Youth urged to be submissive

Tree of Life Church has dedicated its new chapel at Teshie-Demo with a call on the youth to be submissive in order to attain greater heights.
The 180-seating capacity chapel, dedicated by the head of the New Life Ministry, Rev. Prof. R.L. Lawson, has facilities such as an auditorium, a separate prayer tabernacle, offices and residences for pastors undergoing training.
Delivering a sermon on the theme: "Submissiveness," the head pastor of the Messiah International Bible Church, Rev Dr Emmanuel Tetteh, said young people should be prepared to serve, as servitude remained the only means through which they could obtain knowledge from their leaders.
He noted that achieving greatness did not come on the spur of the moment but was the result of a culmination of several years of dedicated service.
He said every human being was born with one potential or the other, however, people often had the desire to pursue talents that led to great discoveries, some of which had become very useful to mankind today.
Citing the founder of Microsoft Corporation, Mr Bill Gates, as an example, he said persistently pursuing one's ambitions brought success, irrespective of one's background.
He noted that before Mr Gates made a breakthrough in computer technology and innovation, several people might have had the same dream but their inability to pursue it meant that it remained just ideas in their minds.
Rev Dr Tetteh advised pastors undergoing training in the church to obey the tenets of their calling and remain obedient not only to God, but also the leadership of the church.
He paid glowing tribute to the founder and General Overseer of the church, Prophetess Hulda C. Kwei, for her visionary leadership and dedication to the work of God.
Recounting the history of the church, Prophetess Kwei said it started as a fellowship in her room in 1991 and became a church in 1996 and has since grown from strength to strength with branches in the Greater Accra and Eastern regions.
Prophetess Kwei told the Daily Graphic that the church had plans to establish branches throughout the country.
She said the church had not only been successful in winning souls for God, but had also played a leading role in healing and delivering several people of their afflictions.
She advised the youth to avoid social vices and focus on their future plans and the word of God.
She advised Christians to remain committed to the word of God, even in the face of hardship since the only source of wealth and happiness is God.
