One person was crushed to death at Cantonments in Accra when a four-storey building he was working on with others collapsed late Saturday night. T he deceased, whose name was only given as Alex, was said to be a married man with a child.  T he body of the deceased has been deposited at the Police Hospital.   T welve others rescued from the rubble were sent to the Police and the 37 Military hospitals, where nine of them were treated and discharged. The delay and irregularity in releasing the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) is affecting the completion of major projects in  two districts in the Western Region.   According to the Ghana Anti Corruption Coalition, several projects which were to be completed a year or more ago in the Sefwi Wiawso and Bibiani-Anhwiawso-Bekwai districts have stalled as funds for their completion have been exhausted. With lack of funds, the assemblies are unable to start, continue or complete projects in the areas of education, health, housing and sanitation earmarked for 2014. The Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) has presented 500 computers and uninterrupted power systems to 25 girlss senior high schools and 10 Integrated Community Centres for Employable Skills (ICCES) in the country. T he presentation formed part of GIFEC’s school connectivity projects which seeks to help bridge the digital divide between rural and urban Ghana. The computers and the UPS before the presentation Besides helping to equip students of the beneficiary schools with information technology skills, it is also to empower the ICCESS to combat youth unemployment, rural-urban drift and contribute to the development of micro and small-scale enterprise among the youth.
