Rana Motors launches KIA Sorento
Rana Motors, retailers of KIA automobiles in Ghana, has launched the latest KIA Sorento–a stylish and sleek traditional SUV that has evolved into a more modern car-like crossover.
With three choices of engines to choose from, a new 2.0-liter turbocharged four cylinders, 3.3-liter V6 and an improved 2.4-liter normally aspirated inline-4 engines, the Sorento is crafted and packed with advanced technologies.
Given its reputation, the Korean makers might have had quite a task sending the old Sorento to the drawing board to bring a vehicle that has added value right from the engines to the boot.
The engineers came back with a mid-size crossover with seating for seven, all-wheel drive and five-seater that could soon be on the Ghanaian market.
At the launch of the car in Accra, the Executive Director of Rana Motors, Mr Kassem Odaymat, had some sweet words.
“The 2016 Sorento is much more refined than its predecessor; nicely finished interior, more cohesive styling, more fuel efficient and much more driver-friendly piece if we consider all the added hi-tech amenities.
“We at Rana Motors are proud of the achievement of distributing and ensuring that Sorentos as old as 12 years are still running on our roads in good condition.”
Inside, the Sorento is impressively roomy. The dashboard design is kept simple, nothing flashy but very practical. Knobs and buttons on the controls are conveniently laid out and easy to use. No cheap plastics.
It appears it makers decided to compete in the segment not just with style and look but also comfort thanks to a 0.5-inch increase in rear passenger space for both rows and a roomier flattened second-row center floor. Access to third-row seating is improved with 1.5 inches of additional boarding space, while headroom throughout the cabin is also increased.
Across the cabin, soft materials had their place, adding ambience around the centre console, instrument panel and door panels. The seatbelts are easily brace and rear-view is as clear as a crystal ball.
For entertainment, the cabin is serenaded with music from a 630-watt, 12-speaker Infinity 2 stereo system with an 11-channel amplifier, audiophile sound has gone mobile in the Sorento with the addition of Clari-Fi technology—this technology works in real-time to rebuild audio details lost in digitally compressed music and improves its listening experience.
A 4.3-inch TFT colour touch screen is standard and also incorporates bluetooth and UVO voice recognition capability.
A car’s look its major magnet –an attribute the Sorento 2016 oozes in abundance. Drawing some of its design motivation in nature and adventure, its contours communicates its edginess and rugged personality and a look that is larger than the 2015 model.
An innovative styling sets its LED positioning lights apart from others in the midsize crossover utility vehicle segment. A much narrower headlight and aggressive-looking grille crowns exterior look of the Sorento.
The KIA Sorento’s roll call of safety features includes seatbelt anchor pretensioners and six airbags.
All Sorento models come standard with active safety features such as Electronic Stability Control (ESC)14, traction control System (TCS)14, brake assist system (BAS)14, Hill-start Assist Control (HAC)14, electronic brake force distribution (EBD)14 and antilock braking system (ABS)14.
The warranty comes in three years or 100 kilometres, whatever comes first.
